From the line of the Emajõgi River, from Lake Võrtsjärv to Lake Peipsi – that is Tartu County with its respectable history, varied culture and colourful nature. Through alternating expositions we tell you stories about the past days of one of the central counties in South Estonia. Especially characteristic of our museum is the fact that the inhabitants of Tartu County willingly participate in arranging exhibitions, and both the riches of private collections and museum treasures make their way to the public eye. We present local works of art and handicraft items. Cultural and educational programmes, excursions and workshops enable you to participate and learn about the minds and doings of the inhabitants of Tartu County.
