University of Tartu Art Museum, the oldest museum in Estonia, displays plaster casts of the best works of Greek sculpture and ancient originals: cuneiform tablets, Egyptian mummies, Greek coins and Roman clay vessels. In the yellow hall we hold exhibitions of the prints, paintings, Russian icons as well as exhibitions of contemporary Estonian art. The walls of the museum are decorated with well preserved copies of murals from ancient Pompeii, which are rare examples of 19th-century European interior design.
