The museum collects materials on the village of Jäneda and the von Benckendorff dynasty, the last owners of the manor. The exposition of the scandalous and legendary baroness Maria Zakrevskaja-Benckendorff-Budberg is especially rich. Her colourful personality and close relations with the writers M. Gorki and H.G. Wells include interesting discoveries for regular visitors and researchers. The museum also plays an important role as a keeper of the history of the first agricultural secondary school of Estonia.
The musical observatory-planetarium of U. Sisask, the walk to Jäneda castle hill and to the coast of Kalijärv offer vivid experiences.
